TG SAFE suspends licences of 14 Hyderabad food outlets after inspections

A total of 22 teams comprising food safety officers and […]HYDERABAD: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) suspended the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licences of 14 restaurants and food establishments in Hyderabad after enforcement teams found serious hygiene and food safety violations during inspections on Saturday. A total of 22 teams comprising food safety officers and police personnel inspected 22 establishments in the Golconda and Charminar zones on October 31, 2026. Officials collected 21 food samples on suspicion of adulteration and discarded 544 kg of spoiled vegetables, leftover food, expired products and food articles affected by pest infestation. Another 13 kg of used cooking oil was discarded on suspicion of repeated use. The establishments whose licences were suspended were directed to stop business operations immediately in the interest of public health. Fourteen establishments face suspension of FSSAI licences The suspended establishments include Hotel Sri Raghavendra Udupi Veg at Tolichowki, Lucky Restaurant at Santosh Nagar, Shah Ghouse Cafe at Shahalibanda, Hotel Nayaab at Nayapool, Sri Balaji Family Dhaba at Gudimalkapur and Siddique Kabab Central Kitchen. The list also includes Alsaba Hotel at Tolichowki, Mehfil Restaurant at Dilsukhnagar, Hotel Sri Raghavendra Udupi Veg at Santosh Nagar, Dine Hill Restaurant at Masab Tank, Sohail Restaurant and Hotel Akshaya Tiffins at Malakpet, Hotel Venkateshwara on MJR Road and Aeezebo The Royal Arabian Restaurant at Salarjung Colony, Rethibowli. Inspection teams reported unhygienic kitchens, damaged flooring, water stagnation, greasy exhaust systems, cockroach and housefly infestations, pest-affected raw materials and rotten vegetables. Officials also found expired food products, repeated use of cooking oil and inadequate maintenance of mandatory records. Officials flag serious hygiene and storage violations Several establishments were found storing raw meat and vegetarian food together in refrigerators. Inspectors also reported uncovered and unlabelled prepared food, leftover items in refrigerators and raw meat stored with frozen blood residue. At Hotel Nayaab, inspectors reported stagnant water in the biryani preparation area and improper storage of gravies and raw meat. Shah Ghouse Cafe was found with rotten fruits, expired food products and food articles affected by pests and fungal contamination, according to the inspection report. Other violations included workers handling food without hairnets and aprons, unhygienic utensils and refrigerators, open garbage bags, damaged drainage systems and missing employee health and pest-control records. Show-cause notices issued to eight food establishments TG SAFE also issued show-cause notices to eight establishments over serious violations. They are Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hotel Sabzi at Charminar, Pista House Restaurant at Shahalibanda, Sweekar Hotel at Santosh Nagar, Mandi at 36 Arabian Kitchen at Charminar, Golconda Hotel and Resorts at Masab Tank, Imperial Multicuisine Restaurant at Tolichowki and Taiba Bakery at Bazarghat. Further action will be initiated against these establishments for imposing penalties, the authority said. The inspections covered several other establishments, including Hotel Raghavendra Udupi Veg at Tolichowki, Mehfil Restaurant, Dine Hill Restaurant and restaurants in Malakpet and Masab Tank. TG SAFE said the special enforcement drives were aimed at ensuring food safety and compliance with hygiene requirements. ]]>
