Celebrities React as Gehgeh Ties the Knot After Advising Against Marriage
Sola Benson Social media personality and self-styled relationship commentator Gehgeh has become the subject of widespread reactions after videos from his wedding ceremony surfaced online, surprising fans and several Nigerian celebrities. The wedding clips quickly went viral on Saturday, drawing attention because Gehgeh had consistently advised his followers against getting married. Through his popular online discussions, he repeatedly described marriage as a scam and a financial mistake, urging people to embrace having baby mamas or baby daddies instead. His decision to get married has now sparked criticism and playful backlash from several entertainers, many of whom joked that they had once believed or been influenced by his controversial relationship advice. Among the first to react was Nollywood actress Evan Okoro, who expressed shock over the wedding. The actress, who confirmed her separation from her husband in April 2025, jokingly blamed Gehgeh for the collapse of her marriage, saying she had followed his teachings. Speaking in a video shared on Instagram, she said in Pidgin English: “Make una no tell me say this Gehgeh’s wedding video na true. Gehgeh talk say anytime wey we see am marry, make we know say na the woman use juju on him. Gehgeh don leave us for street now go marry. Na Gehgeh scatter my marriage. He tells us say marriage na financial mistake. Gehgeh don disappoint us for street now, wetin go happen to us now? He told us that marriage is a scam. Na Gehgeh teach me wetin I dey do. He deceive me. You scatter my marriage.” Popular blogger and media personality Tunde Ednut also joined the conversation with a brief but surprised reaction on Instagram. “Wait oo! Is Gehgeh married?” Comedian and skit maker Cute Abiola also questioned the authenticity of the wedding videos, suggesting he initially believed they were part of a prank. Tagging Gehgeh on Instagram, he wrote: “Are you serious or your joking? Just tell me what I’m seeing online is not true. This boy you nearly spoil my life one year ago. Do you know the number of boys that you have spoiled their lives? You now go and marry. This must be a prank.” He further reacted under Tunde Ednut's post, revealing that he was relieved he stopped following Gehgeh's relationship philosophy. “Na God say make I don drop out from his school since. Thank God say I no turn single father. I am waiting for him to come online and explain in full details.” The reactions did not stop there, as several other public figures also weighed in on the development. TikToker Salo, content creator Tunde Perry, Izzy Ogbeide, Daddy Freeze and other celebrities joined the online conversation, with many humorously accusing Gehgeh of abandoning the principles he had long preached. The wedding has since generated widespread discussion across social media platforms, with many users describing the development as ironic, given Gehgeh's repeated public stance that marriage was unnecessary and financially unwise. While the online personality has built a reputation for criticizing marriage and encouraging alternative family structures, his decision to tie the knot has left many followers demanding an explanation, with some describing it as a complete reversal of the advice he had consistently given over the years.
