Eight teams comprising 25 officials carried out the operation, including a search at the residence of former Rajya Sabha MP N. Bhaskar Rao. Former association president Y. Venkateswara Rao, alias Konda Babu, had alleged that around ₹80 crore was misappropriated. The allegations include collecting money from truck owners under various pretexts since 2005, including in the name of Maoist activities, without maintaining proper accounts or receipts. The funds were allegedly invested in logistics, trading, mining and real estate businesses. EOW officials also questioned some domestic staff at Bhaskar Rao’s residence. His response to the allegations and raids was not available.
