The Flydubai FZ1073 cockpit attack has triggered a political debate in India after BJP leaders questioned the absence of a public statement from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Captain Smit Machchhar’s actions during the mid-air emergency. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra publicly raised the issue and asked why Gandhi had not posted about the Indian pilot. However, the wider Opposition response is more nuanced: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has publicly praised Captain Machchhar, while reports cited by the BJP focus specifically on Rahul Gandhi’s lack of a public statement. Machchhar was seriously injured after his co-pilot allegedly attacked him during the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight; he helped enable passengers and crew to intervene, and the aircraft was safely diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. n18oc_the_hard_factsNews18 Mobile App - https://onelink.to/desc-youtubeCNN-News18 is your trusted source for breaking news, updates, and in-depth analysis from around the world.
